On October 6th, 2011 the world lost a great man in the passing of Steve Jobs. His work and creations have been a highly significant contribution to the world and how we interact with it. Although I didn’t like the level of control forced onto his products, they still were exemplary works of craftsmanship that showed a truly dedicated use of positive obsession and user focused iteration. Steve Jobs was a highly insightful and intelligent man that had as much to say about anything as Albert Einstein or really any person with an opinion, he just did it much better than most.
“No one wants to die, even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there…Death is very likely the single best invention of Life…Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true”.
The purpose of quoting Jobs but changing the context of the quote is to point out another truth within the one he points out. Death is a grand invention for this life. With all of the sin and temptations available in the world it would be too easy to lose sight of God in this world before its’ remade. Even Adam and Eve who lived in the presence of the Lord and spoke to Him openly and directly sinned when only there was one sin to tempt them with. A world that has us under constant spiritual attack and more temptations than roaches wouldn’t be a world that I would want to live in eternally, at least not without a proper relationship with the Lord. Even then as Jobs said, “people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there”.
