…That GDC session would be so much more awesome if they were going to serve us tea and chat more about improving their licensing framework. Really, you buy their digital titles and its’ licensed to the hardware, not to the account. That’s insane and is highly unacceptable. I am never going to shut up about that issue until its’ resolved.
It’s one thing for PSN titles not being transferable from the PS4 to the PS3, it would be outrageous if it wasn’t possible to do so from PS3 to PS3. Could you Xbox owners imagine having to send Microsoft your dead Xbox 360 and a new one whenever you wanted to switch consoles? That’s how it used to be with Nintendo systems. Now we have access to a convoluted transfer process for transferring content between hardware… of different generations (For the Wii, you can go DSi-DSi and 3DS-3DS). What’s the deal with not tying something so simple to an account? Nintendo knows to give you surveys about your digital purchases, why can’t they know that NintendoFanboyXX2034Million owns the same title that they’ve just asked you 10 mundane questions about?
It’s obscene, it’s unneeded and it should not be accepted. It’s taking DRM to the extreme on a gaming console. Gaming consoles are technically legacy-free pc’s so why the added bonus of giving our video games Fire Emblem-style perma death? Where is our casual mode at Nintendo? Where is our Quick save so that I can restart when things go bad and come back? Sega would have never done this. Sony and Microsoft do not do this. Most digital content stores do not do this. Hell, I could give a penny to the Humble Bundle and download the same bundle a million times. Nintendo, correct yourself. You are drunk with madness, this is not Sparta. Fix this.
